The next new kit from IFM is the NSWGR ABV High Arch Roof Covered Van.

Built at the Clyde Wagon Workshops in 1967, two wagons were rebuilt from LV class louvre vans (LV 13767 & LV 16075) with new bodies. The new body used a one piece moulded plywood sheet (as used with the JHG, GHG and numerous other wagons by the railways), all previous ABV class wagons were converted from CV wagons. The two new wagons retained their orginal numbers and recoded "ABV". The wagons were used by Arnott's Biscits and loaded at the North Stratfield plant and from there, they travelled to most parts of the state. These vans saw service right up to the mid 1980's until fixed wheelbase wagons were abolished from traffic.

Infront Models have released a model kit of the ABV. This kit has been designed to encourage modellers of the NSW railways who have never built a urethane kit before or, if you are a seasoned modeller who would like to added another wagon or two to your roster.

The kit features a 3 piece castings, roof, sides, and floor. No corner alignment and checking of sides are square. The underframe is supplied from Trainorama® as used under the S wagon; so no axle alignment has to be done to ensure the wagon rolls true. The kit only requires eight holes to be drilled, four for the door handles (two each side), two for the air hose and two for the coupler screws, simple!
Painting is easy, silver roof, PTC blue for the sides and black for the air hose. In all a simple yet detailed urethane kit that can be built in an evening.
The kit comes with the urethane castings, brass detail parts, brass wire, Trainorama® S wagon underframe with wheels, Kadee® couplers, screws, decals and instructions to complete the model (note: kit is not supplied with paint or glue).

Price for the ABV kit $40.00AU

The RTC's were first painted black when commisioned, during the mid 1970's were re painted in PTC blue and, in the mid 1980's some were painted in SRA red.
